  • Pay attention to quality and detail.
  • Work well with others and treat people with respect.
  • Can adjust when work priorities change.
  • Can safely do active and repetitive work, including standing, lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling.

Experience in commercial laundries, production, warehousing, manual handling, quality checking or machine operation may be useful, but it is not essential.

Hours and work locations:

Capital Linen Service delivers linen 365 days of the year. At our Mitchell location, the core hours are between 7.00 am and 7.00 pm, Monday to Saturday. Permanent Linen Assistants at Mitchell work 38 hours each week and must be available for a roster within these hours including public holidays. Our Hospital linen rooms at The Canberra Hospital (TCH) and North Canberra Hospital (NCH) operate every day of the year, including weekends and public holidays. If you are offered hospital-based work, you must be available when rostered. You must have reliable transport to your work location. Work may be offered at any of these locations.

Permanent and casual jobs:

This recruitment process may be used to fill both permanent and casual jobs. Permanent employees work 38 hours each week under a roster. Casual employees may work between zero and 38 hours in a week, depending on operational needs. Casual work does not guarantee minimum hours.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other Requirements:

You must have valid working rights in Australia. Visa holders may apply. Any job offer will depend on the type and length of your working rights.

Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months. Selection may be based on application and referee reports only. Assessment activity may begin before advertising closes. Applicants should note that a Joint Selection Committee (JSC) established in accordance with the collective/enterprise agreement provisions will assess all applications for this position.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service.
