The Governance and Secretariat Officer provides high-level governance, executive and secretariat support across a diverse and dynamic portfolio. Working closely with senior leaders, you will coordinate key reporting and information requests, manage executive workflows, facilitate governance committees and meetings, and prepare high-quality briefing and correspondence material that informs strategic decision-making.

We are seeking a highly organised and motivated professional with exceptional attention to detail and strong communication skills. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment, enjoy coordinating complex activities, and take pride in delivering high-quality outcomes. This role offers the opportunity to build your governance and executive support experience while working closely with senior leaders on some of the ACT's most significant community safety, justice, policing, security and emergency management priorities.

We are committed to creating an inclusive environment where people with diverse thoughts, lived experience, and perspectives can thrive and contribute their unique talents to the ACTPS and ACT community. We encourage Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, people with disability, people with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds, veterans, younger and older workers, and people with diverse genders, sexes and sexualities to apply.

Eligibility/Other requirements: This position is a designated security assessed position. The position holder must be eligible and suitable to obtain and hold an NV1 security clearance under the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) as a mandatory qualification.

Notes: This is a temporary position available immediately until 30 June 2027. An order of merit will be established from this selection process and may be used to fill future identical vacancies over the next 12 months.

Note: Under the ACTPS employment framework you may be placed in another role where required for the efficient administration of the service. Where an offer of employment is for a fixed-term period, any related temporary contracts within the Territory will be issued in compliance with the requirements and applicable exceptions outlined in the Fair Work Act.

The ACT public service is committed to closing the gap, underpinned by the belief that when Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people have a genuine say in the design and delivery of policies, programs and services that affect them, better life outcomes are achieved.
