Professional expertise. Personal purpose.

Build practical planning experience while completing your studies in planning or a related field. This role gives you 6 months in Urban Planning and Economic Development and 6 months in Development Assessment, working alongside experienced planners on projects that shape how Blacktown City grows.

You research planning issues, assist with planning studies and strategic plans, and support the preparation and monitoring of planning controls. You help assess development applications, provide planning information to developers, Council staff and the public, and work with consultants and other organisations. You also build practical knowledge of planning legislation and how it applies to day-to-day decisions.

Your work supports decisions about development and helps Council plan for a well-managed and sustainable city. This role suits someone currently studying a relevant qualification who enjoys research, problem-solving and working with others.

At Blacktown City Council, good people make great teams, and great teams build great cities. Here, you will find the stability and support to keep growing, along with:

  • a term contract, full-time role for up to 12 months with one of Australia's largest councils

  • an entry level salary commencing at $1,371.62 per week

  • access to Council's flextime arrangement

  • 12% superannuation and competitive leave entitlements

  • ongoing training and development support

  • access to Fitness Passport, social clubs and wellbeing programs.

Blacktown City Council is committed to safety. We have introduced alcohol and other drug testing at the pre-employment phase, and via a series of random and cause testing.

We are a child safe organisation that supports and promotes the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of children.
