A client-side project management and advisory consultancy, delivering across health and aged care, education, infrastructure, industrial and commercial sectors, is looking for a Project Manager to join their Sydney team. Founded over a decade ago and built around a genuinely multidisciplinary model, in-house project managers work alongside chartered engineers, quantity surveyors, commercial managers, safety advisors and environmental scientists.
The business runs 40 to 60 projects at any given time nationally. The portfolio will likely include aged care and education projects, but it is far from one type of project. Over the last decade, the team has delivered:
- RAC room and common area refurbishments
- Building and remedial works
- Fire safety upgrades under fire orders
- HVAC and building services replacements
- Lift replacements
- Civil and retaining wall works
- Road and external infrastructure
- Solar installations
- Technology and IT upgrades
- Gym fit-outs
- Corporate office refurbishments
- Hazmat removal
- Specialised dementia care upgrades
- Small to medium developments
Projects sit across a range of statutory approval pathways (exempt development, CDCs, DAs) and applicable legislation (including the DBP Act, RV Act and RAB Act), and you will need to get comfortable navigating these as part of the role. Scale varies from smaller works around $200,000 through to multi-million-dollar projects, with complex fit-outs running up to $50 million. Almost all of it is delivered in live, operational environments, which brings its own layer of staging, logistics, stakeholder management, safety and keeping operations running throughout construction.
You will manage a caseload of up to 6 projects at a time depending on complexity, reporting to a Senior Project Manager, with oversight from the Head of Project Management. This role involves full life cycle project management across existing and new build projects.
What you will bring:
- Minimum three years of project management in a consulting environment.
- Solid experience on capex, fit-out or refurbishment projects.
- Comfort navigating statutory approvals and relevant legislation as part of project delivery.
- Experience, or a genuine willingness to learn, working within live, operational environments.
- Confidence to hold your own with clients, contractors and consultants; this team wants a genuine personality, not someone who will sit quietly in the background.
- A collaborative approach, working alongside engineers, QS, commercial managers, safety advisors and environmental scientists day to day.
Why this role:
- Genuine variety, a broad mix of capital works, disciplines and delivery stages rather than one repetitive project type.
- A multidisciplinary team under one roof, with real exposure to the full project lifecycle.
- Room to move into other sectors as opportunities arise.
- A firm that has invested in standardising its systems and reporting, so you are supported rather than buried in spreadsheets.
- Clear reporting line and a team structure that supports progression.
