A boutique energy consultancy is seeking a commercial market modeller who builds and runs NEM models hands on. Your work will shape investment, contracting and policy decisions for generators, developers and investors.
Suits a modeller who wants to front clients and turn results into commercial advice. You will join a small, highly technical team trusted by governments, utilities and investors nationally.
Responsibilities:

- Model generation, storage and transmission scenarios under evolving policy and regulatory settings
- Develop and challenge key assumptions including demand, fuel costs, new entrant costs and bidding behaviour
- Frame client questions into clear modelling scopes and identify the commercial decision each analysis supports
- Translate modelling outputs into commercial advice on offtake, contracting, valuation and investment
- Prepare reports and present slide packs to clients, investors and senior stakeholders
- Act as day to day technical point of contact, managing scope, timelines and quality
- Review analysis prepared by junior staff and contribute to proposals and new business
- Improve modelling tools, datasets and methodologies as the market and regulation evolve
Required Experience:
- 4+ years building and running NEM market models; candidates without hands on modelling experience will not be considered
- Hands on with PLEXOS or comparable platforms, owning inputs, simulations and output validation
- Background in a consultancy, gentailer or developer modelling team
- Modelling that directly supported PPAs, hedging, asset valuation, investment cases or transactions
- Strong grasp of NEM dispatch, pricing, contract markets and generation and storage economics
- Confident applying SRMC, LRMC and supply and demand fundamentals to market outcomes
- Python, SQL or similar used day to day for data handling and model automation
- Track record presenting results and defending assumptions to clients and senior stakeholders
