Concord Cardiology is seeking a Medical Typist to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is based working from home and plays a vital part in supporting our cardiology practice by ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient information and medical records.
As a Medical Typist, you will be responsible for transcribing medical reports, correspondence and clinical notes with precision and attention to detail. This position is essential to maintaining the efficiency of our clinical operations and ensuring that all medical documentation meets the highest standards of accuracy and compliance.
Key responsibilities:
- Transcribe dictated medical reports, clinical notes and correspondence from cardiologists and medical staff with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to strict data protection and privacy regulations when handling sensitive patient information.
- Proofread and edit typed documents to ensure grammatical accuracy, correct medical terminology and compliance with formatting standards.
- Manage medical dictation software and audio equipment to support efficient transcription workflows.
- File and organise medical documents in accordance with the practice's record management system.
- Liaise with clinical staff to clarify medical terminology or unclear audio recordings to ensure accurate transcription.
- Meet agreed deadlines for transcription turnaround whilst maintaining high quality standards.
- Support the administrative team with general clerical duties as required.
What we're looking for:
- Proven experience as a Medical Typist or Medical Transcriptionist, preferably in a cardiology or clinical setting.
- Excellent typing speed and accuracy, with a demonstrated ability to transcribe medical dictation with precision.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, particularly cardiology-related terminology.
- Proficiency with medical transcription software and standard computer applications such as Microsoft Word.
- Experience with Genie or Best Practice Medical Software and/or medical dictation software is required.
- A home based computer that is reliable and has antivirus software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of accuracy.
- Understanding of patient confidentiality and compliance with healthcare privacy regulations including relevant Australian privacy legislation.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with clinical and administrative staff.
- A qualification in medical transcription or secretarial studies is preferred.
