The Opportunity
We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Project Manager / Senior Project Engineer to join our growing Western Australian operation in Fremantle. Working closely with the WA Operations Manager, you will sit at the centre of project delivery, connecting clients, contracts, engineering, commercial control and field execution. This is an opportunity for someone ready to move beyond purely technical delivery. You will take ownership of budgets, forecasts, variations, claims, procurement and project margin, while helping turn marine infrastructure problems into safe, practical and commercially successful solutions.
What you'll be doing:
- Commercial and project performance - budgets, revenue, expenditure, productivity and forecast gross margin and commercial risk.
- Project management and delivery - coordinate resources, monitor progress, client communication and forecasts.
- Engineering-led marine solutions - review underwater inspection findings, resolve technical issues.
- Team leadership and accountability - results driven.
About you:
- 5+ years' project engineering or project-management experience in civil, structural, marine, remediation, resources, industrial or comparable contractor environments.
- Ability to execute Project Management Plans, Compliance documents and Quality assurance and Controls (ITP's etc).
- Hands‐on attitude and willingness to assist with practical tasks when required.
- Ability to contribute positively to team culture, morale and shared accountability.
- Strong commercial awareness and experience managing project budgets and forecasts.
- Cost-to-complete forecasting, variations, claims and change-management capability.
- Practical construction/site-delivery knowledge and professional client communication.
- Construction White Card, MSIC or ability to obtain, current Australian driver's licence and willingness to travel within WA.
Nice to have (but not essential):
- Civil, structural, marine, mechanical or related engineering degree.
- Marine construction, wharf, jetty, bridge or port‐infrastructure experience.
- Concrete/structural remediation, cathodic protection, corrosion management, pile repairs or temporary works.
- Commercial diving project exposure. Commercial diving qualifications are not required.
- Experience with WA port authorities.
- Bluebeam, AutoCAD, MS Project or equivalent technical/planning tools.
Be part of technically challenging, high-impact marine projects. Work with a respected and growing contractor expanding across Australia and the US. Enjoy a varied, hands‐on role where no two days are the same. Join a collaborative, down‐to‐earth team that values practical expertise. Competitive salary with genuine long‐term career growth opportunities.
At CMG, we're building a team where different backgrounds, ideas and experiences are genuinely valued. We welcome people as they are and are committed to creating a workplace that is safe, respectful and inclusive — where everyone has the opportunity to do great work and grow. If this sounds like the kind of team you'd like to be part of, we'd love to hear from you.
