About the team

At its core, credit is trust extended over time. Every credit decision shapes customer outcomes, portfolio performance, and the long‐term resilience of the bank. To support the modernisation of our function we are building a more integrated, insight‐led practitioner model that goes beyond reporting by playing an active role in shaping outcomes.

About the role

This is a great opportunity for a data‐minded risk professional who enjoys deep analytical work and translating complex data into actionable business insights. As a Senior Credit Risk Analyst, you will use strong analytical capability and technical expertise to support credit strategy improvement across the full lifecycle, including originations, portfolio management, and collections. You will work closely with Credit Risk Managers, Product, Pricing, Technology, Operations, Distribution, Collections, and L1 and L2 Risk teams to provide the analysis and insights that inform credit decisions and drive portfolio performance improvements.

You will focus on analytical discovery and insight development:

  • Define analytical problems and data requirements
  • Analyse portfolio, process, and decisioning performance
  • Develop insights and identify emerging patterns or risks
  • Recommend strategy or rule changes based on analysis
  • Support post‐implementation monitoring and performance tracking

This is a hands‐on role for someone who enjoys diving deep into data, uncovering patterns, and translating complex analysis into clear business actions that improve credit outcomes.

What you'll do

  • Portfolio analysis and performance monitoring: Analyse portfolio trends, drivers, emerging risks, and opportunities across the credit lifecycle. Identify performance shifts and translate findings into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Credit strategy analytics: Provide analytical support to credit strategy development through segmentation analysis, decisioning performance review, and impact modelling. Support the design and testing of rule changes and policy adjustments.
  • Data insight and pattern identification: Use data and analytical tools to uncover meaningful patterns, validate business hypotheses, and quantify the impact of credit decisions on portfolio outcomes.
  • Analytics and continuous improvement: Use advanced analytics, data tools, and modern platforms to improve portfolio understanding, strengthen decision quality, and identify opportunities to enhance credit strategies and processes.
  • Cross‐functional collaboration: Partner with business, technology, operations, and risk teams to provide analytical support for credit decisions, ensure data quality, and help translate analysis into operational outcomes.

What you'll bring

  • Experience in credit risk, banking, or another analytics‐led decision environment where you have supported analytical or portfolio analysis work
  • Strong analytical capability, with the ability to interpret complex data, identify meaningful patterns, and derive insights that inform action
  • Skills in SQL, Python, SAS, Excel, Tableau, or similar tools used for analysis and performance monitoring and/or experience working with modern data platforms (for example BigQuery, Snowflake, or similar cloud‐based environments)
  • Ability to translate analysis into clear, practical recommendations that balance customer outcomes, risk appetite, and business performance
  • Sound understanding of Australian retail credit portfolios, including key segments, performance drivers, and the broader risk landscape
  • Working knowledge of core portfolio metrics such as losses, recoveries, provisions, and return outcomes
  • Strong problem‐solving, structured thinking, and analytical reasoning skills
  • Experience communicating analytical findings clearly to business and risk stakeholders
  • A curious mindset and willingness to keep learning and improving
  • A tertiary qualification in a quantitative, analytical, commercial, legal, technology, or related discipline is valued, or equivalent practical experience

You will have the opportunity to influence portfolio outcomes by helping shape credit decisions, improving governance and controls, strengthening decision quality and contributing to the evolution of modern credit practices. You will join a team that values curiosity, accountability, collaboration and continuous improvement where team members are encouraged to own outcomes, challenge constructively and grow capability over time.
