We're supporting a Defence industry company seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to join their team in a permanent, full-time role requiring an NV1 security clearance.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, integrate and maintain software components using C#.
- Contribute to software architecture and the development of microservices and distributed systems.
- Collaborate with software engineers and other technical specialists to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
- Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, code reviews, testing and integration.
- Develop automated tests and contribute to software quality, reliability and maintainability.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues through debugging and problem-solving.
- Contribute to technical discussions, team planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work within an Agile engineering environment, collaborating with the wider team to deliver project outcomes.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Approximately three or more years of professional software development experience, with flexibility for candidates demonstrating strong technical capability.
- Demonstrated experience developing software using C#.
- Strong understanding of object-oriented programming and software engineering principles.
- Experience with Git and collaborative development practices.
- Understanding of software testing, integration and the software development lifecycle.
- Strong analytical, debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a technical team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with microservices or distributed software architectures.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes or containerised applications.
- Exposure to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
- Experience working with Linux environments and Bash scripting.
- Familiarity with messaging technologies such as Kafka, MQTT or DDS.
- Experience with Agile methodologies, including Scrum or SAFe.
- Previous experience in Defence, aerospace or other complex engineering environments.
