Key responsibilities
- Measuring and preparing cost estimates for paving and concrete packages from architectural, landscape and civil drawings and specifications.
- Taking off quantities for pavers, bedding, concrete slabs, kerbs, edge restraints and associated works.
- Sourcing and comparing supplier pricing for pavers, stone, concrete and materials, and obtaining subcontractor quotes where required.
- Identifying scope gaps, exclusions and risks in tender documents and raising RFIs with builders and consultants.
- Maintaining our estimating spreadsheets, rate libraries and supplier pricing with accuracy.
- Compiling tender submissions, quotations and cost breakdowns for builders and head contractors.
- Liaising with project managers, architects, landscape architects and builders to clarify scope and specification.
- Supporting the review of estimates before submission and assisting with post-tender clarifications.
- Contributing to the ongoing improvement of our estimating templates and processes.
What we’re looking for
- A qualification in construction, quantity surveying, civil engineering or estimating, or equivalent practical experience in a trade or site role.
- Strong numeracy and analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail.
- Confident in Microsoft Excel and comfortable working with spreadsheets and rate databases.
- Ability to read and interpret construction, landscape and civil drawings.
- A sound understanding of construction processes; exposure to paving, concrete, landscaping or civil works is a strong advantage.
- Clear written and verbal communication and the ability to work as part of a small, hands-on team.
- Capacity to manage several tenders at once and meet submission deadlines.
- A keen interest in developing specialist estimating expertise and growing with the business.
- Preferred: experience with take-off or estimating software, or exposure to tender and subcontract processes.
