As Communications Advisor – Healthy Communities, you will help connect people with the opportunities, services and experiences that support a healthier, more active and connected Mandurah.

Reporting directly to the Executive Manager, Healthy Communities, and contributing as a member of the Healthy Communities leadership team, you will provide strategic communications advice and deliver creative, targeted campaigns across four key functions: Mandurah Aquatic and Recreation Centre (MARC), Seniors and Community Centre, Recreation Services and Health Promotion.

Combining strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, you will bring programs, projects and community initiatives to life through compelling content and coordinated communications. From encouraging participation in sport and recreation to supporting membership growth and promoting health and wellbeing initiatives, your work will give people a reason to connect, participate and discover what is available.

Working closely with teams across Healthy Communities and Corporate Communications, you will translate business priorities into clear, accessible messaging, explore fresh ways to reach audiences and use campaign insights to strengthen results. This is an opportunity to combine creativity, collaboration and purpose with communications that do more than inform: they inspire action.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A degree in Communications or a related discipline (essential), together with at least five years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Strong strategic thinking and demonstrated expertise in developing communications and marketing strategies that translate organisational priorities into clear, compelling messages.
  • Well-developed planning, campaign and brand management skills, combining a strategic approach with effective hands-on delivery.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to turn complex topics into simple, engaging and accessible content.
  • Strong digital communications skills and a sound understanding of media issues.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service and relationship-building skills, supported by effective negotiation and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge and practical experience in project management and customer relationship management (CRM) systems.
  • High attention to detail and strong research, analytical and reporting skills to evaluate communications outcomes and identify improvements.
  • The ability to work independently with limited supervision and collaboratively within a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the flexibility to manage competing priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
