The opportunity

Your primary focus will be discipling and developing teenagers and young adults.

We donโ€™t want to simply run good youth programs. We want to see young people encounter Jesus, develop a deep faith, discover their calling, serve others and become disciple-makers.

You will have the opportunity to

  • Build genuine relationships with teenagers and young adults.
  • Develop a strong culture of discipleship rather than simply programming.
  • Identify, equip and release emerging young leaders.
  • Develop pathways from youth into young adulthood and meaningful participation in the wider church.
  • Partner with parents and families.
  • Develop youth and young adult leaders and volunteers.
  • Teach, preach and lead worship and discipleship environments.
  • Create opportunities for mission, service, community and spiritual formation.
  • Provide leadership to our creative and communications ministry.
  • Help develop a creative culture that communicates the gospel and tells the stories of what God is doing.
  • Contribute to the broader pastoral life and ministry of Devonport Church of Christ.
  • An opportunity to grow as a pastoral leader

There is another important dimension to this role.

We are not simply looking for someone to manage a ministry.

We want to invest in a leader.

You will work closely with our Senior Pastor, receiving mentoring, coaching and increasing exposure to broader pastoral leadership.

This will include opportunities to grow in

  • Preaching and teaching
  • Pastoral leadership
  • Discipleship and spiritual formation
  • Strategic thinking
  • Team leadership
  • Church-wide ministry
  • Vision and culture
