Role Overview
Role Overview
We are seeking an Asset Manager to take ownership of the performance, reliability, risk profile and long-term lifecycle management of a portfolio of critical energy infrastructure assets located across Victoria, New South Wales and potentially New Zealand.
A key focus of the role will be supporting assets such as synchronous condensers and terminal stations, ensuring they continue to operate safely, efficiently and in line with operational and business objectives.
Success in this position will come from combining strong technical capability with effective stakeholder engagement, commercial awareness and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
Just as important as technical experience is a willingness to learn, accept feedback and contribute positively to the wider team.
The Opportunity
The Opportunity
This role will play a key part in optimising the performance and reliability of strategically important electrical infrastructure assets.
Working alongside engineering, maintenance, operations and commercial teams, you will support the development of asset strategies, oversee risk management activities, improve asset performance and help guide long-term investment decisions.
The position provides a balance of office-based work, stakeholder engagement and occasional site travel, offering exposure to both the technical and commercial aspects of asset ownership.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive asset performance, reliability and lifecycle outcomes across a portfolio of electrical infrastructure assets.
- Assist in developing and implementing asset management plans and strategies.
- Monitor asset condition, risk, performance and compliance requirements.
- Identify and support opportunities to improve asset performance and efficiency.
- Contribute to capital planning, budgeting and investment decisions.
- Work collaboratively with operational, engineering and maintenance teams.
- Support the management and mitigation of technical and commercial risks.
- Coordinate and engage with external contractors and service providers.
- Participate in periodic site visits across Victoria and New South Wales.
- Contribute to the ongoing reliability and sustainability of the asset portfolio.
Skills & Experience Essential
- Experience within Asset Management, Asset Engineering, Reliability Engineering or Asset Performance environments.
- Understanding of asset lifecycle and maintenance management principles.
- Exposure to electrical, utility or infrastructure-based assets.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Knowledge of risk management and reliability methodologies.
- Ability to evaluate both technical and commercial considerations.
- Well-developed organisational and prioritisation skills.
Desirable
- Experience working with or around Synchronous Condensers.
- Exposure to Terminal Station or Substation assets.
- Transmission, power systems or broader electrical infrastructure experience.
- Utilities, renewable energy or critical infrastructure background.
- Exposure to HV assets and electrical networks.
- Experience contributing to asset strategy, maintenance optimisation or investment planning activities.
About You
About
You: We're looking for someone who brings strong technical foundations, but equally demonstrates the attitude and mindset required to grow within the role.
You will ideally be someone who
- Takes initiative and ownership of their work.
- Has a genuine desire to learn and develop.
- Welcomes feedback and uses it constructively.
- Isn't afraid to ask questions when faced with unfamiliar challenges.
- Has a strong interest in asset performance and infrastructure reliability.
- Is organised, accountable and dependable.
- Can adapt to changing priorities and challenges.
- Builds positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders.
- Is motivated by making assets perform better, rather than simply chasing a title.
Importantly, this opportunity is open to candidates who may be stepping into a larger Asset Management role.
The focus is less on finding the most senior person and more on finding someone with the right technical foundation, attitude, growth mindset and willingness to get stuck in and develop.
- Working Arrangements
- Permanent full-time opportunity.
- Hybrid model with 3 days in the office and 2 days working remotely.
- Initial onboarding period will be office-based.
- Approximately 1-2 site visits per month.
