As our Student Engagement & Recruitment Officer, you'll play a key role in promoting our Government funded training programs, building strong community partnerships and attracting new students to our courses. This is a highly mobile, relationship-focused role, with approximately 80% of your working week spent on the road engaging with schools, Link and Launch, Queensland Pathways, job providers and other community organisations.

You'll work closely with our Training and Development Coordinator to identify opportunities, strengthen referral pathways and increase student participation across our training programs. The position is full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 am – 4:00 pm, with a strong focus on community engagement and outreach throughout the week. This is not a traditional office-based role, and you'll need to enjoy managing your schedule, travelling and building relationships face-to-face. A Challenge vehicle, fuel, phone and laptop will be provided to support you in the role.

Your Responsibilities

  • Student Recruitment: Proactively identify, engage and recruit prospective students into our training programs.
  • Community Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with schools, Link and Launch, Queensland Pathways, job providers and community organisations.
  • Relationship Management: Develop strong referral networks and partnerships to generate student referrals and training opportunities.
  • Outreach & Promotion: Represent Challenge Employment & Training at school visits, community events, career expos, provider meetings and other networking opportunities.
  • Student Enquiries & Follow-Up: Respond to enquiries, provide information about available courses and support prospective students through the recruitment and enrolment process.
  • Growth & Participation: Identify opportunities to increase awareness of our training programs, improve engagement and grow student enrolments.
  • Reporting & Administration: Maintain accurate records of engagement activities, referrals, prospective students and recruitment outcomes.

What You'll Bring

We're looking for someone who is confident engaging with a wide range of people, enjoys working independently and is passionate about helping others access education and training opportunities. Ideally, you'll have:

  • Experience in student recruitment, community engagement, business development, sales, stakeholder relations or a similar role.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Confidence networking, presenting information and promoting services to external organisations.
  • The ability to proactively identify opportunities, generate referrals and convert enquiries into enrolments.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage your own schedule while working out in the community.
  • A high level of digital literacy and confidence using technology to maintain records and communicate with stakeholders.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to travel regularly as part of the role.
  • A genuine interest in education, training, employment pathways and supporting people to achieve their goals.
  • Experience in the RTO/VET, employment services or not-for-profit sector will be highly regarded.

Why Choose Us?

  • Help people access training and create new opportunities for their future.
  • Spend your week out in the community building relationships and connecting with prospective students.
  • Access to a vehicle, fuel, phone and laptop to support your work.
  • Competitive salary package with salary sacrifice options.
