This is a hands‑on operational role suited to someone who understands civil construction plant, heavy equipment, fleet, logistics and maintenance and can keep a busy yard organised, safe and ready to support multiple projects.
What you'll be doing
You'll be responsible for the day‑to‑day operation of the yard, including:
- Managing and organising the yard, plant, equipment and materials
- Coordinating plant mobilisation and demobilisation across multiple projects
- Preparing equipment, attachments, tooling and materials for site
- Managing loading, unloading and transport requirements
- Coordinating servicing, repairs, inspections and preventative maintenance
- Working with mechanics, suppliers and transport providers to minimise downtime
- Tracking plant location, availability, condition and maintenance status
- Managing inventory, spare parts, consumables and equipment records
- Inspecting equipment returning from projects and preparing it for its next allocation
- Ensuring yard activities meet WHS and Chain of Responsibility requirements
- Coordinating yard personnel and subcontractors
- Identifying practical ways to improve yard efficiency, fleet utilisation and costs
- Working closely with Project Managers and Supervisors to anticipate upcoming equipment requirements
What we're looking for
We're not looking for a traditional warehouse manager.
We're looking for someone with genuine experience managing plant, equipment and logistics in a civil construction, piling, geotechnical or similar heavy industry environment.
You’ll ideally bring:
- Previous experience in yard, plant, fleet or equipment management
- Strong knowledge of civil construction plant, machinery and tooling
- Experience coordinating equipment mobilisation and demobilisation
- A sound understanding of mechanical servicing, maintenance and repairs
- Experience managing equipment registers, assets and inventory
- Strong planning and organisational skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and urgent project requirements
- Experience coordinating employees, subcontractors, mechanics and transport providers
- A strong understanding of WHS in a construction or industrial environment
- A current Australian driver's licence
- Forklift or relevant plant competency is desirable
The person we're looking for
You're practical, organised and proactive.
You know your way around construction equipment, can identify what needs to happen before it becomes a problem and aren't afraid to get involved when things get busy.
You take pride in running a clean, organised and efficient yard and understand that equipment sitting in the yard isn't productive. It needs to be maintained, prepared and where it needs to be, when it needs to be there.
You'll be working on site at our Burleigh Heads yard, so applicants must be able to work from the yard and have relevant local availability.
