Contract Dates: 16 January 2027 to 18 January 2030 (3 year middle leader contract). Two (2) further three (3) year appointments will be made subject to a satisfactory performance review at the conclusion of the initial one (1) year middle leader contract. This position holds a substantive Permanent Teaching Position with the Diocese of Cairns.

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience - Graduate $86,600 - Proficient 4 $107,988 FTE Gross per annum, plus applicable Middle Leader Tier 2c allowance $16,274 p.a OR Proficient 5 and above: $140,998 FTE Gross per annum.

St Monica's College, Cairns is situated in the central business district of Cairns, one block from the Cairns Esplanade. St Monica's is the oldest school in the region, with rich heritage and Mercy traditions. About The Role: The college is currently accepting applications for a Pastoral Middle Leader on a fixed-term contract. A substantive teaching position is attached to this role.
Education: The role of Pastoral Leader is to support the mission of the College through leadership founded on a commitment to the provision of quality education for the students. This involves:
- Developing and implementing effective pastoral practices which provide for students' wellbeing.
- Ensuring that appropriate programs and processes are developed and followed at all levels to encourage students to embrace a way of living based on Gospel values and managing student behaviours which are contrary to this.
- Coordinating the efforts of staff in students' holistic growth.
- Developing partnerships with parents and carers.
- Developing other appropriate partnerships within and outside of the school.
Middle Leaders are accountable to and under the direction of the College Principal. Line Managed by Deputy Principal – Pastoral Care.
As a Teacher You Will:
- Plan, prepare and deliver effective learning and teaching programmes.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the school objectives and school planning.
- Contribute to the establishment and maintenance of a supportive school environment.
Teachers are accountable to and under the direction of the school Principal or delegate.
Work Requirements:
- Be registered or eligible to be registered with Queensland College of Teachers.
- Be fully supportive of the ethos of Catholic Education.
