Cathara Consulting are seeking a WHS Projects & Assurance Advisor to design, implement and verify Work Health and Safety (WHS) improvement, critical risk, assurance, contractor management and project safety programs.
This position will be critical in providing specialist advice to strengthen safety systems, confirm control effectiveness and embed WHS requirements into projects and business improvement initiatives.
Key responsibilities
- Lead WHS initiatives and strengthen critical risk management through practical, standardised safety systems, tools and assurance methods.
- Lead Critical Control Assurance (CCA) and Critical Control Verification (CCV) programs; plan and conduct critical control, permit-to-work (PTW), governance and contractor reviews to independently verify effectiveness and identify systemic improvements.
- Provide WHS assurance for capital projects, outages and contractor works; review project and safety-in-design risks and integrate WHS into Project Management Office (PMO) governance, commissioning and handover.
- Maintain and improve the Contractor Management Framework; verify compliance and risk controls, and support prequalification, tender evaluation and governance.
- Facilitate risk assessments and workshops, provide specialist safety advice, and support major investigations through systemic analysis, assurance and organisational learning.
About you
- Tertiary qualifications in Work Health and Safety, Risk Management, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline.
- Experience with critical risk or control management, BowTie, ICMM Critical Control Management, ICAM, TapRooT® or similar methods.
- Experience in power generation, utilities, heavy industry, construction or other high-risk operations.
- Experience in project assurance, safety in design, commissioning or contractor management systems.
- Demonstrate experience developing and implementing a WHS management system, risk framework or practical safety improvement initiative.
- Extensive knowledge of the Work Health and Safety (National Uniform Legislation) Act, Regulations and applicable Codes of Practice.
- Ability to engage stakeholders at different organisational levels to support a safety initiative or resolve a safety issue.
