Our client is a boutique financial advisory firm with a strong and growing reputation in Australian infrastructure and energy. Its directors spent long careers at a leading global investment bank and bring that same rigour to every engagement, but in a small, hands-on team where analysts work directly with senior people rather than getting lost in a large structure. The firm advises corporates, government and institutional infrastructure investors on M&A (buy and sell side), project and greenfield financing, corporate debt and refinancing, and early-stage commercial structuring. Recent work spans ports, airports, regulated networks, renewable energy and Renewable Energy Zones, social and affordable housing, student accommodation, social infrastructure and fuel infrastructure. Much of its work comes through repeat clients and referrals.

The role

  • Build and maintain financial models for corporate and project finance transactions, including debt sizing, sculpting, DSCR/LLCR/PLCR and covenant analysis, DCF/IRR valuation, and bid models for brownfield acquisitions and greenfield developments.
  • Carry out financial analysis, valuation and sector research (precedent transactions, market overviews, debt market conditions) to support live deals and pitches.
  • Draft information memoranda and contribute to pitch materials.
  • Coordinate deal workstreams such as due diligence, Q&A processes and lender or investor feedback tracking.
  • Work closely with directors who stay hands-on across every transaction.

What you’ll bring

  • 2–5 years’ relevant experience in infrastructure corporate finance, project finance or investment banking, or in a project finance or investment role within an infrastructure corporate, developer, modelling specialist or Big Four firm (with real infrastructure transaction exposure).
  • Strong modelling skills and the ability to explain complex financial concepts clearly to clients. Note that project finance modelling will be tested within the recruitment process; if you have never built a ground up project finance model with debt sculpting your success will be unlikely.
  • A proactive, team-first approach and a willingness to help across deals beyond your own.
  • Genuine interest in the infrastructure and energy sectors and in understanding how assets work technically and commercially.
