About Camden Professionals

Camden Professionals is an established accounting and tax advisory practice in Perth, operating alongside Investax Group, with a strong presence across Perth and Sydney. Together, our practices have built a strong reputation as specialists in property and business taxation, providing accounting, tax planning, SMSF and business advisory services to property investors, business owners and small to medium-sized businesses across Australia.

Our expertise in property taxation, business structures, capital gains tax, SMSFs and tax planning has helped us build a substantial client base and a strong online presence. Our websites consistently feature prominently in Google searches for property and business accounting services. We believe that good accounting is about more than preparing annual tax returns. Our clients rely on us throughout the year for practical tax advice, guidance on important property and business decisions, and ongoing support.

As our practice continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Intermediate or Senior Tax Accountant to join our Perth team.

The Opportunity

We are open to candidates at either Intermediate or Senior level, provided they have a minimum of five years of Australian public practice experience and a strong foundation in taxation and accounting. Our priority is finding the right person rather than filling a particular job title. Whether you are an experienced Intermediate Accountant ready to take the next step or an established Senior Accountant looking for a hands‑on role, we would like to hear from you. This is an opportunity to join an established and growing accounting group, work closely with experienced managers and partners across our Perth and Sydney offices, and gain exposure to a broad range of interesting and complex taxation matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparing financial statements and income tax returns for companies, discretionary trusts, partnerships and individuals.
  • Preparing BAS, GST and other taxation compliance work.
  • Preparing investment property schedules, including rental income, deductions and related taxation matters.
  • Assisting with capital gains tax calculations, Division 7A matters and other taxation issues.
  • Preparing SMSF financial statements and annual tax returns, including working with SMSF administration software such as Class Super or BGL Simple Fund 360, where you have relevant experience.
  • Communicating directly with clients to obtain information, answer routine queries and resolve accounting and taxation matters.
  • Identifying and resolving accounting and taxation issues before submitting work for review.
  • Maintaining accurate working papers and ensuring assignments are completed within agreed deadlines.
  • Working closely with managers and partners on more complex taxation matters.
  • Reviewing work prepared by junior accountants and providing technical guidance where appropriate, depending on your experience.
  • Contributing to improvements in internal accounting processes and workflows.

About You

To be considered for this position, you should have:

  • A minimum of five years of Australian public practice accounting experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian taxation and accounting requirements.
  • Practical experience preparing financial statements and tax returns for companies, discretionary trusts, partnerships and individuals.
  • Experience preparing BAS and dealing with GST matters.
  • Good working knowledge of Xero and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify and resolve accounting and taxation issues.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to manage your own workload, meet deadlines and work independently with appropriate support.

The following will be highly regarded:

  • CA or CPA qualification, completed or in progress.
  • Experience preparing SMSF financial statements and annual tax returns.
  • Experience using SMSF administration software such as Class Super or BGL Simple Fund 360.

  • Knowledge of Division 7A, capital gains tax and taxation matters affecting property investors.
  • Experience with Xero Practice Manager or similar practice management software.
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other accountants.

We understand that accountants develop different strengths throughout their careers. You do not need to be an expert in every area of taxation, but you should have strong accounting fundamentals, sound judgement and a willingness to learn.

What We Offer

  • Competitive remuneration based on your experience, qualifications and technical ability.
  • The opportunity to join an established accounting group with a strong presence in Perth and Sydney.
  • A supportive and collaborative team environment.
  • Opportunities to work directly with experienced managers and partners.
  • Exposure to a diverse range of clients and interesting taxation matters, particularly in property investment, business taxation and SMSFs.
