The Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service covers a large geographic area with a diverse and growing population. The Health Service provides a wide range of primary care, acute and specialist services.
Mareeba Hospital provides healthcare services to the local community, supporting primary health centres and Lotus Glen Correctional Centre. It offers emergency care, medical imaging, maternity, and medical wards, along with a variety of specialist outpatient services.
About your role:
Mareeba East ward and Theatres provide a range of essential healthcare services, ensuring individuals in the community have access to quality care close to home. The ward offers inpatient medical, surgical, palliative, and rehabilitation care, alongside day procedure services to support patients requiring short-term interventions. With a dedicated team, the ward delivers comprehensive inpatient and day surgery services.
Your main tasks may include (but are not limited to):
- Provide direct patient care for general ward patients, including assessments, care planning, implementation of care, and support with activities of daily living (ADLs).
- Management of pre- and post-surgical patients including preadmission clinic and anaesthetic assessments.
- Administer and monitor medications, evaluate patient progress, and maintain accurate clinical documentation.
- Monitor vital signs, identify and respond to clinical deterioration, and contribute to a safe, high-quality care environment.
