The Medical Receptionist works within a team to offer support directly to the Practice Manager. The Medical Receptionist provides high quality Customer service, reception and secretarial services to patients, doctors and fellow colleagues at the practice, in a caring and supportive manner maintaining confidentiality of all information.
Key responsibilities
- Best Practice Software experience a Must!
- Open and close the clinic
- Greet patients and other callers at the practice in a courteous and efficient manner
- Answer the telephone promptly and courteously within three rings
- Schedule appointments for patients
- Receive and convey messages in writing, verbally and electronically including emails and faxes
- Liaise with patients and their families in a compassionate manner
- Liaise with doctors, other health professionals and their staff
- Issue patient invoices / receipts and bulk bill as required
- Enter and update patient registration details
- Exercise confidentiality with regards to patient care, staff and doctors personal files
About you
- Be efficient with Best Practice Software
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Able to communicate effectively with a variety of people
- Able to work independently or as part of a team
- Proficient in the use of a keyboard
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
- CPR training
- Demonstrate patient-focused approach in service provision with genuine empathy and interest in their needs
- Ability to prioritise and organise, with attention to detail
- Maintain absolute confidentiality regarding patient and practice information
