About the Role

A well-established Perth-based engineering business is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join their Electrical Design Team.

Reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, this office-based role supports electrical design, procurement and project closeout across power generation, renewables, battery storage and mining infrastructure projects.

You will work on practical design deliverables including HV/LV cable schedules and calculations, single line diagrams, schematics, switchboard/MCC drawings, equipment lists, BOMs, vendor document reviews, RFIs, protection/control interfaces, earthing interfaces and construction/commissioning support.

This role would suit someone who enjoys hands-on design delivery, technical checking and working with engineers, project managers, vendors, OEMs and site teams to resolve design issues before procurement, construction and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare and update electrical design deliverables including SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, layouts, equipment lists and termination schedules.
  • Complete and check electrical calculations including cable sizing, voltage drop, fault level and earthing.
  • Review vendor drawings, datasheets and technical submissions for electrical equipment.
  • Prepare RFIs, technical queries, design markups and scope clarifications.
  • Support equipment selection and technical specifications for LV and MV systems.
  • Coordinate with EPC contractors, project managers, vendors, designers, construction and commissioning teams.
  • Provide engineering support during FAT, construction, commissioning, handover and closeout.
  • Follow established engineering standards, safety requirements, quality systems and document control processes.

About You

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3+ years' electrical engineering experience, ideally in power generation, utilities, mining, industrial infrastructure, renewables, EPC/design consultancy or OEM environments.
  • Experience preparing or reviewing SLDs, schematics, cable schedules, layouts, equipment datasheets or vendor drawings.
  • Good understanding of LV and MV systems including switchboards, MCCs, transformers, generators, cables, earthing and auxiliary power.
  • Working knowledge of Australian standards including AS/NZS 3000, AS/NZS 3008, AS 2067 and AS/NZS 61439.
  • Auto CAD or drawing markup experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, communication skills and ability to follow technical issues through to closeout.
