Your Role
We are looking for a full-time welderwho fabricates and repairs metal products using various welding techniques.
Your job responsibilities include:
Studying blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine job requirements.
Determining the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements.
Setting up components for welding according to specifications.
Selecting proper fillers, cleaning and preparing metal stock for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions.
Cutting marked-out metal sections and shapes using hand tools, flame cutting torches and metal cutting machines.
Shaping and bending metal sections and pipes using hand and machine tools, and by heating and hammering.
Aligning parts to be joined using hand tools and measuring instruments.
Joining metal sections using various welding techniques, bolting and riveting.
Examining welds for width of bead, penetration and precision.
Finishing products by cleaning, polishing, filing and bathing in acidic solutions.
Cleaning and smoothing welds by filing, chiselling and grinding.
Conserving resources whenever possible to ensure budgetary integrity and client satisfaction.
De-burring metal as necessary to achieve proper surface texture.
Testing and inspecting welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws.
Adhering to safe working practices in accordance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
Skills and Qualifications
At least AQF certificate IV in engineering – fabrication trade or AQF certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training or equivalent
At least 2 years relevant work experience
