A-Grade Electrician/Leading Hand - Architectural Homes
Wire the homes that end up in the magazines.
BREC is a growing, quality-first electrical contractor working across Melbourne's high-end residential and bespoke commercial market. Our recent work includes projects with Flack Studio, Wardle Studio, Kennedy Nolan, Austin Maynard Architects, Breathe Architecture, Cera Stribley and more.
Youβll work alongside award-winning architects, Melbourne's best high-end builders and some of the most professional trades around, on projects across Melbourne's inner-city suburbs.
We're growing and have room for two kinds of A-Grade:
- A solid A-Grade who wants to work on high-end sites alongside our leading hands
- An experienced Leading Hand ready to run jobs and a crew
This is a permanent, full-time role. If you'd rather do it right than do it fast, we want to hear from you.
Why BREC?
- $50β$60/hr + super β based on your experience and the responsibility of the role
- Company vehicle and fuel card
- Monthly RDOs and steady hours (7:00amβ3:30pm)
- Mostly inner-suburb sites β high-end new builds, renovations and bespoke commercial fit-outs
- No micromanagement β we trust you and back you
- Bespoke lighting and automation (DALI, KNX, C-Bus, Dynalite)
- A real career path β step up to running sites, or move into project management and estimating, automation design and programming, operations, or service. We'll shape the role around where you want to go.
The Role
On every site:
- Rough-in and fit-off to drawings and schedules on high-end homes and bespoke commercial projects
- Install custom pendants and feature lighting
- Fault-find on new and existing installs
- Keep a clean, safe and organised site
If you're running the job:
- Lead the electrical install from start to finish
- Run a small crew β guide our A-Grades and apprentices and show them how it's done right
- Read the drawings ahead and pick up issues before they're built in
- Work with builders, foremen and other trades to keep the site moving
- Keep our project managers across scope changes, RFIs and variations, and order materials
You'll Bring:
- Victorian A-Grade licence and White Card
- Current driver's licence
- Experience on high-end residential or architectural work (or a real drive to get into it)
- Pride in neat, precise work and good communication with builders and clients
- Feature lighting and automation wiring experience β a big plus
For the Leading Hand role
- Proven experience running sites and leading a crew on complex or architectural projects
Is This For You?
If you want to actually enjoy your day-to-day work, you want to work at BREC.
What sets us apart is what comes with the job:
- Culture β a positive, supportive team where people look forward to coming to work
- Flexibility β monthly RDOs, steady hours, and a role we'll shape around where you want to go
- Pride β work on projects you'll want to show people, with builders and trades who care as much as we do
- Growth β a real path to running sites, project management, automation or operations
That's built for people who want a long-term home with us. If you're after short-term or contract work, we're probably not the right fit.
About Us
Culture comes first at BREC. We work alongside builders and trades who care as much about the finished product as we do, and we keep things simple: clear communication, efficient processes, and a team that looks out for each other β physical and mental health included. Background, gender, age or where you started doesn't matter to us; attitude and pride in your craft do. We're also actively committed to bringing more women into the electrical trade.
