About the Role
As a Personal Care Worker, you will attend to the personal care needs of customers, with a focus on those requiring additional assistance due to physical limitations or frailty. You will provide manual handling support, deliver activities to enhance the physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development of customers, and supervise daily hygiene routines. You will also report changes in customers’ conditions to senior staff and advocate for residents’ wellbeing through exceptional service and effective collaboration with families and the care team.
Responsibilities include:
- Focuses on customers and residents using a person-centred approach, demonstrating values of patience, empathy and listening, and respecting the customer’s diverse and unique needs.
- Attends to the personal care needs of customers, with a focus on those requiring additional support due to specific physical limitations or frailty.
- Identifies and reports changes in customers’ circumstances and capacity to more senior staff members, monitors and records clients’ vital signs and assists with medication management, including reminders and administration as prescribed.
- Provides manual handling assistance to customers with daily tasks, supports customers with daily hygiene routines, including showers or baths, shaving, and nail care.
- Assists customers with their aids, such as applying surgical/support stockings or operating a tens machine.
About You
To be successful in this role, our preferred candidate will have:
- Studying towards Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) is desirable.
- Previous experience in providing personal care services to individuals with physical or mental disabilities, elderly or chronically ill patients.
- Proficient in activities of daily living, person-centred practice, medication administration & monitoring, and providing medical and personal support and care to patients/residents.
- Excellent analytical thinking, communication, customer experience, emotional intelligence, planning and prioritisation, and results orientation skills.
