About the role

Blue Wing Care is looking for a Speech Pathologist to join our allied health team in Campbelltown and South West Sydney. The caseload is adult and paediatric NDIS participants with complex communication needs and dysphagia: AAC, communication partner training, mealtime management plans and swallowing assessment.

Because we also deliver the daily support, the communication system you set up is used by the same team every day, and the mealtime plan you write is followed in the kitchen rather than kept in a drawer.

What you will do

  • Assess communication and swallowing, and write the reports that fund the supports
  • Set up and review AAC, from low tech through to speech generating devices
  • Write mealtime management plans and train support workers and families to follow them
  • Deliver communication partner training to the teams around each participant
  • Keep clinical notes and documentation to NDSI Practice Standards

What you bring

  • Eligibility for Certified Practising Speech Pathologist membership of Speech Pathology Australia
  • A current Australian driver's licence and a roadworthy, insured vehicle
  • A valid NDIS Worker Screening clearance
  • A valid NSW Working with Children Check
  • First Aid and CPR training, or willingness to complete it
  • Dysphagia and AAC experience is valued. New graduates with an interest in either are encouraged to apply.

What we offer

  • A clear, realistic billable expectation you will know before you start
  • Mealtime management work that is actually implemented, because we employ the support team
  • Supervision from clinicians who carry a caseload themselves
  • Permanent full-time, with part-time and contract arrangements open to discussion
  • Laptop and phone provided
  • Funded professional development, including dysphagia and AAC training

We are an approved sponsor and welcome applications from overseas-qualified clinicians who want to relocate to Australia. We are booking interviews now.
