We’re leaders and innovators in transforming steel into smart products and solutions that support society, today and in the future.

The Opportunity

At BlueScope Distribution in Kewdale, we're looking for an Account Manager who enjoys working with people, is keen to learn and wants to build a long-term career. Previous sales or steel experience isn't essential. What is important is your ability to build relationships, communicate well with others and take pride in doing what you say you'll do. This opportunity would suit someone who has developed strong customer-facing skills in retail, hospitality, customer service, internal sales or a similar environment and is ready to take the next step in their career.

While experience is always valuable, we're equally interested in people with the attitude and potential to grow into the role, and we're prepared to invest the time and support needed to help the right person succeed. Working within our Sales team, you'll be supported by an experienced manager who is passionate about developing people and creating opportunities for them to progress. You'll join a business with the stability of BlueScope behind it, a collaborative team environment and exposure to a wide range of customers operating across industries including manufacturing, mining and defence.

What Will You Do

You’ll manage an established portfolio of customers across the Perth metropolitan area, developing relationships, understanding customer needs and helping businesses find the right steel and aluminium solutions. As your knowledge and confidence grow, you’ll also identify opportunities to expand existing accounts and support new business growth within your territory. Your day‑to‑day could include:

  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing customers
  • Visiting customer sites and developing an understanding of their businesses and requirements
  • Identifying, generating and converting new business opportunities
  • Working closely with internal teams to deliver a high level of customer service
  • Maintaining customer activity and opportunities within our CRM system
  • Developing account plans and sales strategies
  • Learning how to manage pricing, commercial discussions and negotiations
  • Keeping up to date with market activity and customer opportunities

More About You

You may already be in a customer-facing role and looking for an opportunity that offers more autonomy, greater responsibility and a long-term career pathway. You don't need to arrive with extensive sales experience, but you will need to enjoy working with people, be comfortable starting conversations and have the confidence to build trusted relationships over time. You’ll bring:

  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A willingness to learn and ask questions
  • A proactive approach and genuine sense of ownership
  • The ability to work well with customers and internal teams
  • Good organisational skills and follow-through
  • An interest in building a long-term career in sales

Why join our Kewdale team

One of the things that stands out about this team is the amount of support available to somebody entering the role. Joining the Kewdale team means you’ll be welcomed into an environment where knowledge is shared freely, questions are encouraged and people genuinely want to see each other succeed. In return, you’ll have the opportunity to build a long-term career with BlueScope while enjoying a range of benefits, including:

  • A competitive salary package and eligibility to participate in our annual Profit Share Plan
  • Company vehicle, mobile phone and laptop
  • Ongoing training and development opportunities
  • Fitness Passport and health and wellbeing initiatives
  • Access to our Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for you and your immediate family
  • Discounts across a range of products and services including technology, vehicles and travel
  • The stability and opportunities that come with being part of the BlueScope group
