BLACKROC has partnered with an established, privately owned business to find a Data & Insights Manager who enjoys bringing a bit of order to the chaos.
The business has plenty of data, established systems and a genuine appetite to do things better. What they need now is someone who can bring it all together, improve confidence in the numbers and help shape what the data function looks like moving forward.
And importantly, you'll be working with a genuinely good leader. Someone who's calm, approachable, technically switched on and doesn't take himself too seriously. No egos, no unnecessary politics, just good people who enjoy what they do and want to make things better.
What you'll be getting involved in:
- Leading and developing a small data and analytics team.
- Bringing greater structure to data quality, governance and consistency.
- Introducing Microsoft Purview and helping establish better data ownership, cataloguing and lineage.
- Taking ownership of the data platform, architecture and longer-term direction.
- Working with business leaders to turn messy problems into practical data solutions.
- Improving existing reporting and building more scalable, sustainable ways of doing things.
- Staying technically involved rather than disappearing into back-to-back meetings.
What we're looking for:
- Strong hands-on SQL and Power BI experience, including DAX and data modelling.
- Experience with modern data platforms, particularly Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric.
- A good understanding of data governance, ideally with experience implementing Microsoft Purview or something similar.
- Experience leading a data team or taking ownership of a broader analytics function.
- Someone who enjoys solving problems, challenging the status quo and making things work better.
- A good human. Someone who's collaborative, down to earth, happy to roll their sleeves up and doesn't need a fancy title to have an opinion.
This could suit an established Data & Insights Manager or a technically strong BI/Data Lead who's ready for that next step.
