BitWatt is a distributed energy developer and operator backed by leading technology and battery manufacturers. We deliver solar, battery storage and energy management solutions to commercial and industrial (C&I) customers across Australia, offering both direct purchase and fully funded PPA models. Our mission is to make clean energy accessible, profitable and hassle-free for businesses.

About the Role

We are looking for a Business Development Manager to drive new project origination in the Australian C&I market. You will be responsible for identifying and securing commercial solar and storage opportunities β€” from first customer conversation through to contract execution. This is a hunter role. You'll work alongside one existing BD team member, with clear targets and the autonomy to run your own pipeline. We value initiative, speed and results.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, prospect and develop C&I solar and battery storage project opportunities through direct outreach to end customers
  • Build and maintain relationships with commercial property owners, facility managers, sustainability leads and procurement decision-makers
  • Collect required project information (electricity contracts, bills, load data) to enable proposal development
  • Collaborate with internal technical and commercial teams to deliver tailored energy solutions
  • Manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to contract signing
  • Develop and leverage industry networks including EPC partners, energy consultants and brokers
  • Provide market intelligence on pricing, competitors and customer trends
  • Represent BitWatt at industry events, conferences and networking functions

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of business development or sales experience in the Australian energy sector (solar, storage, energy services or related)
  • Demonstrated understanding of the Australian C&I electricity market, including tariff structures, network rules and regulatory environment
  • Proven track record of originating and closing commercial deals
  • Existing industry relationships and networks that can be activated from day one
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, comfortable working independently with minimal supervision

Required Skills

  • Experience with PPA, lease or third-party funded energy project models
  • Knowledge of BESS applications (peak shaving, demand management, arbitrage)
  • Familiarity with CEC accreditation, DNSP connection processes and NEM market dynamics
  • Experience working with or within EPC companies
  • Bilingual (English/Mandarin) is a plus but not required

Equal Opportunity Statement

We are committed to diversity and inclusivity in our hiring practices.
