About BGIS

BGIS is a global provider of integrated facilities management, delivering innovative and sustainable solutions to clients across various industries. We pride ourselves on our collaborative and inclusive culture, and on maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and service.

Purpose of the Role

We've just secured a new contract looking after a large social housing portfolio across South East Melbourne, and we're building a crew of 20 qualified Carpenters to get it off the ground.

Reporting to the Team Supervisor, you'll be out on the road each day carrying out maintenance, refurbishments and minor works in people's homes. You'll get a work vehicle, the tools to do the job, and steady work Monday to Friday, with overtime on offer.

This is a busy role with clear deadlines and KPIs, so it suits a self-motivated tradie who likes to get stuck in, take ownership of their jobs and see them through. You'll be working in and around tenants' homes, so being friendly, respectful and good with people matters just as much as your trade skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out carpentry maintenance, repairs, refurbishments and minor works across client properties.
  • Complete jobs on time and to a high standard, in line with contract KPIs.
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with tenants, members of the public and client representatives.
  • Update job details, photos and completion notes in the job management system on your iPad.
  • Look after your vehicle, tools and company equipment so they're always ready to go.
  • Work safely and keep sites clean, safe and compliant with BGIS safety, quality and environmental systems.
  • Take part in the on-call roster and pick up overtime as needed.
  • Work well with your team and the wider BGIS building services crew.

Education, Experience & Skills

Essential:

  • Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery.
  • At least 3 years' post-trade carpentry experience.
  • Good all-round knowledge of the building industry.
  • Strong customer service skills and a respectful, friendly manner with the public.
  • A self-motivated approach and comfort managing your own day.
  • Good attention to detail and pride in quality work.
  • Current Driver's Licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience in maintenance, social housing or residential refurbishment work.
  • Experience working to KPIs and deadlines.
  • Additional carpentry training or qualifications.

Workplace Flexibility

These are full time, permanent roles working across client sites in South East Melbourne, Monday to Friday from 08:00am to 4:30pm. You'll also be part of an on-call roster, with overtime available.
