Not every counselling role has the power to change the course of a child's life. We're looking for an experienced Children's Art / Play Therapist & Counsellor to join our team and provide specialist therapeutic support to children and young people who have experienced trauma, domestic and family violence, and other significant life challenges. Based in Broadmeadows, this role is dedicated to supporting children through evidence-based counselling, play therapy and creative therapeutic approaches.

About the Role

This is a highly specialised, child-focused counselling role working with children, young people and families. Using trauma-informed, evidence-based and strengths-based practices, you will provide therapeutic interventions that help children process their experiences, build resilience, strengthen emotional wellbeing and develop healthy coping strategies. Your work may include individual counselling, play-based therapy, art therapy techniques, psycho-educational programs and therapeutic group work. A key focus of the role is supporting children and families impacted by domestic and family violence and sexual violence, requiring a clinician who is confident working with complex trauma and child-centred therapeutic approaches.

About You

  • You are an experienced and compassionate clinician who understands the impact of trauma on children and young people and is committed to delivering high-quality therapeutic support.
  • Tertiary qualification in Counselling, Psychology or a related Human Services discipline.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience working in the Domestic and Family Violence and/or Sexual Violence sector.
  • Minimum 2 years' experience providing counselling support to children and young people.
  • Demonstrated experience in trauma-informed counselling practice.
  • Experience facilitating counselling and therapeutic group programs.
  • Clinical membership (or eligibility) with a recognised professional body such as PACFA or ACA.
