We are seeking a proactive and innovative Property Officer (Land Transactions) to join our Property Services team. Working under the guidance of the Strategic Properties and Projects Coordinator, you will investigate and progress land sales, road discontinuances, encroachments and land agreements from initial enquiry through to completion. You'll build specialist knowledge of public land and gain hands-on experience in complex property dealings, which makes this a great opportunity to grow your career in property.
Why you'll love this role
You will work with landowners, prospective purchasers, internal teams and specialist advisers to research property matters, identify constraints, coordinate statutory and transaction requirements, and keep matters moving to agreed timeframes. This is an opportunity to contribute your initiative, attention to detail and sound judgement to the effective use and management of Council land.
- Investigate and progress land sales and road discontinuance opportunities, including property research, stakeholder engagement and coordination through to contract and settlement.
- Interpret property titles, plans and land status to identify transaction requirements, constraints and matters requiring specialist advice.
- Engage with adjoining landowners and prospective purchasers, explain Council processes and support negotiations.
- Investigate encroachments and help develop appropriate sale, licence or other land arrangements that protect Council’s interests and realise value.
- Assist with the assessment and negotiation of new land agreements, including infrastructure leases.
- Maintain accurate records and provide clear reporting on actions, financial outcomes, dependencies and timeframes.
What you'll bring/what we are looking for

- Ability to interpret property titles, plans and land status, identify constraints and apply sound commercial judgement to property transactions.
- Experience in statutory land processes or demonstrated capacity to quickly learn and apply relevant legislation, policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated initiative, organisation and follow-through to progress matters, resolve issues and achieve agreed outcomes.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear correspondence, build stakeholder relationships and support negotiations.
