Axial Training is looking for an experienced, energetic and relationship-driven Account Manager to take ownership of our Toowoomba, Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich and surrounding region. For this role, local knowledge really matters. We’re looking for someone who knows the region, understands the local industries and ideally already has strong connections across the employer, apprenticeship and business community.

This is a highly autonomous, relationship-focused role for someone who understands apprenticeships and vocational training and enjoys being out in industry rather than sitting behind a desk. Your first priority will be looking after our existing employers and strengthening those relationships. From there, we want you identifying opportunities to grow those accounts, develop new relationships and continue building Axial’s presence throughout the region.

With strong support from the wider Axial team, you’ll:

  • Manage and grow an established portfolio of employer clients
  • Build strong, long-term relationships with local employers
  • Maintain regular contact with clients and ensure they continue receiving a high level of service
  • Identify additional apprenticeship, traineeship and workforce development opportunities within existing accounts
  • Develop new employer relationships throughout the region
  • Strengthen existing referral, employer and industry networks
  • Represent Axial throughout Toowoomba, the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich and surrounding areas
  • Build Axial’s profile within the local business and industry community
  • Take genuine ownership of your accounts and the ongoing growth of the region

You’ll have the freedom to get out there, meet employers, visit workplaces, build relationships and develop your territory — backed by an organisation with the training model, people and support to deliver on what you promise.

What We’re Looking For

Experience in the apprenticeship and vocational training industry is essential. We’re particularly interested in someone who brings either:

  • Account management, sales or business development experience within the VET sector; or
  • Solid experience with an Apprentice Connect Australia Provider (ACAP) or the apprenticeship support network.

But for this particular role, we’re also placing a lot of value on local experience and local connections. If you’ve spent years working across Toowoomba, the Darling Downs, Lockyer Valley, Ipswich or surrounding regions and have built a strong reputation and network along the way, we want to hear from you.

You might already know the local employers, industry groups, apprenticeship networks and key people across the region. You understand the industries that drive the area and you’re comfortable walking into a local business, introducing yourself and building a genuine relationship from there. You’ll be a natural relationship builder who understands that good account management isn’t just about making a sale — it’s about looking after people, staying connected and becoming someone your clients trust and want to continue doing business with.

At the same time, you’ll have the commercial drive to recognise opportunities and turn strong relationships into sustainable growth. You’ll be organised, accountable, comfortable working autonomously and motivated by the opportunity to genuinely make the region your own.

We Give You the Tools

We want our Account Managers spending their time where they make the biggest difference — out in industry with employers. We’ll set you up with:

  • Company vehicle or allowance
  • Company mobile phone
  • Company laptop
  • All tools of trade
  • Strong management and administrative support
  • Plenty of autonomy to manage and grow your region
