A senior tax role for someone who wants to build a practice. If you are five to eight years+ in public practice, technically strong, and you want to grow a client base rather than wait in a partnership queue, this is worth a look. Axelo Group is a fast-growing Australian technology and services group, with businesses including Accario and CloudMarc.ai. We are bringing senior tax and accounting in-house, and we want a Senior Accountant who is an individually registered Tax Agent to lead it and grow it.

Group entities and affiliated businesses give you a starting book from day one. Growing that book beyond the group is a core part of the job, and you will be directly rewarded for it.

Must-haves:

  • Registered Tax Agent (individual TPB registration). Applications without individual TPB registration will not be considered.
  • Business development. This role carries real responsibility for winning new clients and growing revenue. If you are not comfortable with that, this is not the right role for you.

The role:

  • Reviewing and coordinating work with our established offshore team in Sri Lanka.
  • Actively generating new clients through networking, referral partners and your own relationships.
  • Converting referrals from across the group into ongoing client work.
  • Identifying and selling additional advisory work to existing clients.

About business development:

To be direct: business development is a requirement, not a nice-to-have. You will be expected to build relationships with referral partners, attend networking and industry events, follow up leads, and personally win and onboard new clients. Revenue growth will be a key measure of performance in this role, alongside technical quality. You will not be doing this alone. You will be supported by an experienced and well-connected Executive team and Board, who will open doors through their networks, along with group marketing and an offshore team that frees up your time. But the growth of the practice ultimately sits with you.

How you are rewarded:

This role is built so that the more you grow, the more you earn. You will receive a percentage of the revenue you personally bring into the practice, plus a share of the practice's profits. Your earnings are not capped by a salary band or a partnership timeline.

What you will bring:

  • Registered Tax Agent (individual TPB registration). Non-negotiable.
  • A track record of winning clients or growing fees in public practice.
  • Confidence in pitching, proposals and pricing conversations.
  • Strong public practice experience in Australia (typically 5+ years).
  • End-to-end compliance across individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and SMSFs.
  • Experience with multi-entity group structures.
  • Solid technical grounding in CGT, Division 7A, tax structuring and planning.
  • Experience reviewing work and leading teams, including offshore.
  • A commercial mindset and genuine interest in building something.
  • Australian permanent residency or citizenship.

What you get:

  • A percentage of the revenue you bring into the practice.
  • A share of the practice's profits.
  • Equity participation, with upside tied to the growth of the practice you build.
  • Direct reporting line into group leadership.
  • Support from an experienced and well-connected Executive team and Board.
  • A starting book of work, so you are not building from zero.
  • An established offshore delivery team, so your time goes to clients, advisory and growth.
  • Hybrid work, flexible hours, modern cloud-based tooling.

Who this suits:

You are a registered tax agent at Senior, Supervisor or Manager level. You are technically strong, you enjoy being in front of clients, and you have already brought in work at your current firm. You want to be paid for the practice you grow rather than waiting years for partnership.
