Workshop Controller | $90K–$110K + Bonuses | Step Into Leadership
High performing workshop | Brisbane's Southside
You're the technician others turn to when things get busy. You know how to solve problems, keep jobs moving and help the team get better.
Now you're ready to take the next step.
We're looking for a hands-on Workshop Controller who can lead from the floor, support our technicians and help run a workshop that takes pride in doing things properly.
You might already be running a workshop. Or you might be a strong Senior Technician or Leading Hand who's ready for more responsibility.
Either way, if you've got the technical ability, the right attitude and the drive to lead, we'd like to hear from you.
Why You'll Love Working With Us
-
$90K–$110K salary package, plus bonus incentives
-
A genuine opportunity to develop towards workshop management
-
Work alongside an experienced Store Manager and ownership team who'll support your growth
-
Technical and leadership training, including advanced diagnostics and EV/hybrid technology
-
Support to gain your TMR Approved Examiner certification and/or ARCtick licence
-
Clear systems, daily huddles and a documented workshop playbook so everyone knows what's expected
-
A chance to make a real difference to the performance and development of your team
Who We're Looking For
You're a strong technician who leads by example.
You take pride in your workmanship, stay organised under pressure and know how to get the best out of the people around you.
You'll need:
-
Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology or equivalent
-
Strong diagnostic and mechanical repair skills
-
The ability to guide, coach and support other technicians
-
High standards for workmanship, safety and quality control
-
Clear communication with technicians, service advisors and customers
-
A current manual driver's licence and Australian working rights
Experience as a Workshop Controller, Leading Hand, Foreman or Senior Technician will put you in a strong position.
TMR Approved Examiner certification, an ARCtick licence or EV/hybrid experience would be a bonus, but they're not essential.
What matters most is your ability to lead, take ownership and lead the whole team perform.
What You'll Do
You’ll work alongside the Store Manager as second in charge, keeping the workshop running smoothly while staying involved in the technical work.
Your responsibilities will include:
-
Help allocate jobs, manage priorities and keep work flowing through the workshop
-
Coach technicians and apprentices to improve their skills and performance
-
Carry out quality checks and help reduce rework
-
Take on diagnostics, complex repairs and other hands-on technical work
-
Keep communication clear between the workshop and front counter
-
Lead by example when it comes to safety, organisation and workmanship
This isn't a role where you stand back and tell everyone else what to do.
You'll be on the floor, helping the team succeed while developing the leadership skills to take your career further.
