Australian Maritime Systems - Brisbane QLD
Some of the most effective operations staff come from outside the maritime industry. If you have coordinated people and services under pressure, whether in hospitality, bus or ferry operations, dispatch or customer service, you already have the core skills this role requires. We will teach you the rest.
AMS Group supports critical national infrastructure, including marine pilotage, maritime operations and search and rescue. Our National Operations Centre (NOC) in Brisbane operates 24/7 to keep these services running. A central part of the role is coordinating the marine pilots who guide ships safely in and out of the Port of Brisbane.
We are recruiting for several Operator positions. No maritime experience is required. All new Operators complete a full, structured training program as a group, with ongoing support as they build their skills and confidence.
What youβll be doing:
- Coordinating pilot movements to ensure pilots reach their ships on time
- Responding to calls and enquiries from customers, pilots and partners
- Liaising with internal teams and external partners to keep operations on schedule
- Maintaining accurate records in our operational systems
- Completing the administrative tasks that support daily operations
- Following safety procedures and processes at all times
Who weβre looking for:
Successful applicants often come from hospitality, bus or ferry operations (driving, dispatch, depot or network control), call centres, logistics, retail or other fast-paced, customer-facing roles. Most importantly, you:
- Communicate clearly and confidently, by phone and in writing
- Remain calm and think clearly under pressure
- Manage multiple tasks at once and prioritise effectively
- Are comfortable using computers and learning new systems
- Take ownership and enjoy solving problems
- Are looking to build a long-term career
About the roster:
These are full-time positions on a rotating 24/7 roster, including day and night shifts of up to 12 hours, weekends, public holidays and on-call duties as required. If you have worked hospitality or transport rosters, this pattern will be familiar.
Full paid training, with no prior experience required.
Join as part of a group intake of new Operators.
A clear career pathway in a specialised and growing industry.
A supportive team in a critical, meaningful operation.
An organisation that invests in its people with future leadership roles available.
Applicants must be based in Brisbane and have the right to work in Australia.
