Keen to get outdoors, learn from experienced crews, and grow your skills on the job? AFL is after reliable, switched-on Trades Assistants to join our grounds and landscape maintenance crews across Sydney.
You’ll be out on the tools every day — mowing, edging, mulching, pruning, weed and litter control, irrigation checks — keeping some of Sydney’s biggest sites looking sharp. You don't need years of experience. You need a solid work ethic, a good attitude, and the willingness to learn from people who know their stuff.
What you’ll be doing:
- Carrying out daily maintenance works to program — mowing, edging, mulching, pruning, weed control, irrigation checks, litter and waste removal
- Setting up, operating and packing down plant, equipment and materials
- Following SWMS, pre-starts and safe work practices on every site, every day
- Reporting hazards, near-misses and equipment faults straight away
- Using materials efficiently and keeping waste down
- Capturing works-completed records and photos where needed
- Working in with the crew and taking direction from your leading hand or supervisor
What you’ll bring:
- A strong, reliable work ethic and a genuine willingness to learn
- Physical fitness — this is an active, outdoors role in all weather
- A current driver’s licence (essential)
- A safety-first mindset and the sense to speak up when something’s not right
- Any relevant tickets (chemical handling, chainsaw, plant) are a bonus, not a must — we’ll train you up
- Ability to pass site access / security screening for government and defence sites where required
What’s on offer:
- Full-time, ongoing role with a genuine path to build trade skills and tickets
- Hands-on training and mentoring from experienced crews
- Well-maintained gear and a business that takes safety seriously
- A supportive, no-nonsense team that gets stuck in together
