Want to bring ideas to life? At Aurecon, we are optimistic about the future. We are thinkers, solvers, and collaborators who work with our clients to deliver the infrastructure and assets that strengthen communities and create a sustainable future. How will your ideas contribute to shaping what’s next? Join our NSW/ACT Bridges & Civil Structures team, based in our Sydney or Newcastle office, and help design and deliver bridge and civil structures projects across NSW, ACT and Australia.

With a strong pipeline of work extending well into 2027, you'll also be joining a Bridges & Civil Structures community that includes some of Australia and New Zealand's best practitioners, with many opportunities to work alongside them and develop your skills via their guidance and mentorship.

Our team has a strong track record in large-scale transport infrastructure, including road and rail bridges, complemented by a diverse portfolio of civil structures delivered for a wide range of clients and sectors such as defence, renewable energy, water and ports.

We work flexibly and are happy to discuss part-time working arrangements.

In this role, you will:

  • Undertake and lead the structural analysis, design and assessment of bridges and civil structures, across concept design, detailed design and construction support.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions that consider safety, sustainability, constructability, durability and whole-of-life performance.
  • Take ownership of design packages and technical deliverables, from calculations and reports through to completion.
  • Identify technical risks and interfaces early, working with project and design leads to resolve them.
  • Collaborate with engineers, modellers and other disciplines across our broader bridge and infrastructure teams to deliver integrated designs.
  • Contribute to design reviews and workshops, and support the development of less experienced engineers.

What are we looking for from you?

We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative mindset and enjoys solving complex engineering challenges. You’ll ideally have experience in:

  • Structural design and assessment of bridges and civil structures in a consulting or similar environment. Whilst not a prerequisite, experience in bridge strengthening and retrofit, defence, or marine and port structures would be beneficial.
  • Applying Australian bridge and structural design standards with sound engineering judgement.
  • Using analysis software such as MIDAS Civil, MIDAS FEA or Space Gass (highly regarded).

You’ll also bring a Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or equivalent relevant qualification. Chartered status, or progress towards an appropriate professional engineering accreditation, would be highly regarded.

How we support your growth

We believe your career should be a rewarding adventure. You will tackle some of the world’s most complex infrastructure challenges, in an environment that supports your ambitions, where we hold ourselves, and each other, to the highest standards.

Recognised by the AFR as a Best Place to Work in 2026, we embrace diverse perspectives, giving you the opportunity to make a real impact.

Ready for your next adventure? If this sounds like your next step, we’d love to hear from you.
