About the Role

Two things sit at the centre of this role. The first is the technical weight of a large, multi-site hospital group: the budget cycle, forecasting, management reporting, business cases and the financial sustainability agenda, all shaped by activity based funding, diverse income streams and clinical service variation. The second is people. The Business Partnering team is strong and spans a wide range of experience across health and commercial roles. The core leadership task is calibrating to both ends of that range.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and developing the Business Partnering team, building a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Acting as trusted adviser to the CFO, Executive and clinical and operational leaders
  • Leading the annual budget and forecast, aligned to Department of Health funding and activity parameters
  • Driving the financial sustainability agenda, including oversight of efficiency, productivity and revenue improvement initiatives
  • Providing financial leadership on business cases, investments and strategic projects
  • Overseeing government grants, funding submissions and diverse income streams
  • Driving improvement across financial processes, systems and reporting using technology and automation

What They’re Looking For

  • CA or CPA qualified
  • Healthcare sector experience desirable similar large complex organisations
  • A leadership style that gives capable people autonomy, stays available underneath it, and coaches and improves overall team capability
  • The presence to build trust quickly with Executive and clinical stakeholders, and to position finance as a trusted adviser rather than a reporting function
