Your new role

As Head of Aged Care, you will lead Sacred Heart Mission's (SHM) specialist aged care portfolio.

From our residential aged care home supporting older people who have experienced homelessness and disadvantage, to home care and community programs, you will shape services that combine exceptional clinical care with dignity, inclusion and social justice.

Reporting to the Director of Services, you will provide strategic and operational leadership across the portfolio, strengthening quality, clinical governance, financial sustainability and workforce capability while identifying opportunities to grow SHM's impact in specialist aged care.

Working collaboratively across the organisation and alongside external partners, you will help position Sacred Heart Mission as a leader in delivering person‐centred, trauma‐informed care for older people with complex needs.

This is an opportunity to influence not only how services are delivered today, but how specialist aged care evolves into the future.

As SHM delivers Strategy 2030: Serving More People, More Communities, you will play a key role in expanding our reach, responding to aged care reform, and ensuring more older people can access the housing, care and support they need to live well.

  • Coach a direct report to identify how to resolve a complex issue in a way that demonstrates SHM values and upholds our commitment to high quality, person‐centred care.
  • Lead a post‐audit retrospective with Clinical and Quality teams as part of a continuous improvement approach.
  • Present to the Clinical Governance Committee on the clinical and quality impact of a service improvement initiative focussed on enhancing care outcomes for SHC residents.
  • Represent SHM at a sector forum to discuss how we have strategically positioned our specialist aged care services to respond to current and future industry challenges.
  • Evaluate a strategic growth opportunity to determine both viability and alignment with strategic and portfolio priorities.
  • Lead a cross‐organisational team to identify ways to further embed lived experience and trauma informed care into service model design and decision‐making.
  • Work with Finance to assess portfolio performance, key financial levers and risks, and develop an action plan for long‐term financial sustainability.
  • We're looking for someone with
  • Extensive senior leadership experience in the aged care sector within residential and/or community care.
  • Demonstrated ability in financial and risk management, with the ability to provide strategic and operational consideration.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic and operational leadership of complex service delivery, with a strong understanding of trauma‐informed and culturally safe practices.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and developing a collaborative, high‐performance culture with values‐led approach.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical governance, aged care legislation and aged care quality systems.
  • You can look forward to
  • The opportunity to lead transformational change and shape the future of aged care at SHM.
  • Professional and career development opportunities, including participation in organisation‐wide initiatives like the Rainbow Collective and Culture Champions.
  • Salary packaging expenses like your rent, holiday accommodation and dining out: up to $15,990 p. a pre‐tax.
  • Generous leave entitlements, 17.5% annual leave loading, gifted leave over holiday period, wellbeing leave & more.
  • A supportive work environment including: 1 on 1 regular line supervision, Psychological First Aid and EAP available.
  • Access to the Portable Long Service Benefits Scheme.
  • Closing date for applications: 11.59pm, Sunday 16th August 2026*

*Shortlisting for this position will commence immediately, and the position may close earlier than stated if we have found suitable candidates.
