Group Financial Controller

Job Summary

Step into a true number two finance leadership role where you'll lift reporting, controls, and systems to support a growing multi-entity business. Reporting to the CFO, you'll own the end-to-end financial integrity of the group, delivering timely insights for decision-making and helping build scalable processes as the business evolves. This suits an experienced Financial Controller who enjoys balancing hands‐on delivery with continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Direct access to the CFO with real influence on group‐wide reporting, controls, and finance strategy
  • Make the finance function scalable through process improvement, standardisation, and system governance as the business grows
  • High visibility outputs including board packs, financial analysis, and input into investor communications
  • Exposure to growth activity including due diligence, acquisitions, and integration support (where required)
  • Own the numbers end‐to‐end across month‐end, compliance, audit, tax, cashflow, and governance
  • Reality check: month‐end reporting is expected within 10 days, so you'll need to be comfortable working to firm timelines

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead accurate, timely month‐end close, management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting across the group
  • Strengthen internal controls, governance, and risk management to protect assets and ensure reporting integrity
  • Ensure compliance across ASIC, ATO, statutory reporting, audit, tax, and Australian Accounting Standards
  • Build and maintain financial models, performance metrics, and forecasting tools that drive decision‐making
  • Own finance process improvement including scalable frameworks across AP, AR, fixed assets, payroll, journals, and source system inputs
  • Maintain strong system discipline and data governance, including effective utilisation of Xero and associated reporting tools
  • Partner with the CFO on board packs, stakeholder reporting, and growth initiatives including integrations and banking relationships
  • Lead, mentor, and develop accounts/admin staff to lift capability and accountability

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or senior finance leader, ideally in a multi‐entity (and/or international) environment
  • Strong technical capability across financial reporting, controls, compliance, audit, and tax
  • Demonstrated success improving reporting accuracy, financial controls, and system/process capability
  • Hands‐on experience with cash flow management, treasury, and banking relationships
  • Experience supporting due diligence, acquisitions, and/or integration activities
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; CPA/CA (or equivalent) qualified is essential
  • High proficiency with ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools, including Xero
