It may also suit someone already working in Medical Affairs or evidence generation who enjoys the operational delivery of research.

Full time permanent position based in Macquarie Park, Sydney with hybrid working (3 office days per week).

About Medical Evidence Delivery: Part of our broader Medical Affairs team, the Evidence team is committed to supporting the delivery of high-quality medical evidence that can inform clinical practice and improve outcomes for patients. Working at the intersection of science, research and healthcare, we collaborate closely with investigators, healthcare professionals and cross-functional experts to translate evidence-generation priorities into well-governed, deliverable research. The role offers broad exposure to therapy areas, evidence types, and collaborators. It gives you a chance to build on your research and project-delivery experience in Medical Affairs.

What you’ll do:

  • Drive the operational delivery and governance of Medical Affairs evidence-generation activities across Australia and New Zealand.
  • Focus mainly on externally funded studies, such as investigator-initiated research, and emerging real-world evidence initiatives.
  • Collaborate with investigators, Medical leaders, and global partners to bring approved research programmes to life.
  • Act as the primary operational contact for ESR activities, from proposal review through contracting, study maintenance and AstraZeneca close-out.
  • Coordinate reviews, approvals, governance activities, documentation and study achievements.
  • Bring an operational and feasibility perspective to evidence planning, partnering with Medical and evidence owners to translate scientific priorities into deliverable research activities.
  • Coordinate research agreements, fair market value, financial support and related processes with functional owners, maintaining accurate, audit-ready records and systems.
  • Track timelines, budgets, vendors, risks, dependencies and contractual deliverables, proactively identifying issues and coordinating appropriate responses with the team.
  • Support publication review, study close-out, operational metrics, continuous improvement and agreed cross-cover for defined Medical Affairs study-delivery activities.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of evidence-delivery processes, tools and ways of working across Medical Affairs.

Essential to the position:

  • Tertiary qualification in life sciences, pharmacy, public health, health sciences, clinical research or another relevant field, or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating or managing clinical research, ESR, evidence-generation studies or comparable regulated projects.
  • Proven project-management capability across multiple collaborators, achievements, risks and deliverables.
  • Working understanding of research governance, documentation, contracting, financial and compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to build effective relationships with investigators, research partners and cross‑functional collaborators.
  • Ability to work effectively across functions and influence team members without direct authority.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, judgement and practical problem‑solving capability.

Desirable for the role:

  • Experience in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, contract research, academic research or healthcare environments.
  • Experience with Externally Sponsored Research (ESR) including investigator-initiated or investigator-sponsored studies/research (IIT/IIS/ISR/IIR), Phase IV studies, non-interventional studies, real-world evidence, registries or secondary-data research.
  • Experience with research agreements, study budgets, vendor management, study documentation, publication processes or evidence-management systems.
  • Working knowledge of Australian and New Zealand research governance, privacy, safety and applicable industry requirements, including ICH‑GCP where relevant.
  • Experience supporting study disclosure, audit/inspection readiness or continuous improvement in a regulated environment.
