Job title: Associate Software Engineer (APS4–APS5) | Baseline | Government Contract

ASJ Tech is looking for an Associate Software Engineer to join a large federal government agency. You'll write, test and maintain quality code for large-scale platforms that support millions of Australians, working with SAP, UI5, Angular and Node.js.
About the role
- Level: APS4–APS5 equivalent
- Location: Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane. You'll work onsite for the first 6 weeks, then a hybrid arrangement may be considered.
- Start date: 1 January 2027
- Contract: Up to 12 months, with extensions up to a maximum of 24 months
- Hours: 40 hours per week
- Clearance: Must be able to obtain and maintain Baseline
What you'll do
- Create software and technical designs for moderately complex solutions
- Develop high-quality, maintainable code, and support the long-term upkeep of the code base
- Support analysis, prototyping, unit testing and maintenance
- Provide go-live support and help investigate and resolve application issues
- Follow endorsed development methodologies, security standards and processes
- Identify and escalation ICT issues and risks
What you'll bring
- Programming and software development experience: designing, coding, testing, documenting and refactoring programs to agreed standards (SFIA Level 2)
- Application support experience, assisting with maintenance and issue resolution (desirable)
- Experience within government or a similar large-scale organisation
- The ability to obtain Baseline clearance
Preferred tech: SAP S/4HANA, UI5, ABAP, Angular, Node.js
