Arnold Bloch Leibler is a premium Australian commercial law firm with offices in Melbourne and Sydney. Clients turn to ABL for advice on their most important transactions, disputes and commercial decisions. The firm is particularly known for its work with large private and founder-led businesses, high-net-worth individuals and family offices, entrepreneurial ASX-listed companies, private capital investors, and international businesses with interests in Australia. ABL provides strategic, commercially focused advice that takes account of legal, reputational and stakeholder considerations. The firm is also distinguished by its longstanding public interest law practice and decades of work alongside Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and organisations.

The role involves administering the firm’s AML system and supporting several important Finance functions. You will work closely with the broader Finance team and communicate directly with partners, lawyers, staff and clients. This varied role requires strong attention to detail, sound judgement and the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to resolve issues efficiently. In-office attendance is essential to support effective supervision, practical learning and regular interaction with colleagues and clients.

Your duties will include:

  • Complete KYC checks for matters involving designated services, including client onboarding, due diligence and verification.
  • Act as the primary administrator and point of contact for the First AML system.
  • Liaise with clients, lawyers and partners to obtain information and resolve AML and KYC queries in line with the firm’s compliance requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of relevant AML legislation and participate in the firm’s annual AML training program.
  • Provide backup support for trust transactions, reconciliations, reporting and record keeping.
  • Assist with the administration and operation of the firm’s practice management system.
  • Support reconciliations, month-end processes, financial reporting and analysis.
  • Contribute to process improvements across the Finance team.
  • Provide broader operational support to the Finance team as required.

The role requires onsite attendance for proactive collaboration with internal and external stakeholders and the ability to resolve issues promptly and effectively as they arise.

About You: You have experience in an accounting, finance or administrative role, preferably within professional services, and are confident using financial systems and Microsoft Excel. You bring strong attention to detail, organisational skills and the ability to manage competing priorities. With sound analytical and problem-solving skills, you can understand and apply compliance requirements accurately while exercising appropriate discretion. You communicate clearly with clients and colleagues at all levels and bring a flexible, proactive and helpful approach to learning new processes and responsibilities. Experience with legal practice management systems, trust accounting or compliance processes would be advantageous but is not essential.

Staff Benefits: The salary package offered for this position is competitive and includes a range of benefits, such as fully subsidised corporate gym membership; an in-house café providing fully subsidised beverages and snacks; discounted corporate health plan; staff social events; health and well-being program; complimentary legal advice for wills, estate planning and conveyancing; and prime CBD office location.
