About the Company and Opportunity
Our client is part of an ASX-listed group with $2B+ in revenue that delivers essential services across Australia. The business has a strong base of long-term revenue and is growing steadily. Its culture is down to earth and humble.
This role is available following an internal promotion. You will own a payroll of around 500 employees, processed weekly and fortnightly, within an NSW payroll team that pays 2,500+ employees across multiple sites. The team is growing as other states move into a centralised national payroll, so you will also gain exposure across the business.
The workforce is mostly frontline and shift-based, covered by enterprise agreements, so accurate pay and clear explanation matter. A big part of the role is service: taking the time to walk employees through their payslips, answering questions with patience and respect, and coaching the site staff who enter timekeeping data so errors are fixed at the source rather than through adjustments. Training in the enterprise agreements will be provided.
The measure of success is simple. Every pay run is on time and correct, nobody is underpaid, and workers’ compensation payments are processed promptly. You will also manage leave, terminations, Single Touch Payroll and same day super for your payroll, document your procedures so the payroll can be covered during leave, and contribute to the rollout of a new HRIS as more states come on board.You will be based on site with the team in Sydney’s South West.
About You
You are a payroll professional who has done this before in a high-volume, weekly and fortnightly environment. You have processed payrolls of several hundred employees or more end to end, and interpreted enterprise agreements or awards to calculate pay correctly. You have resolved employee pay queries and explained payslips clearly and respectfully to frontline or shift-based staff. You have reduced errors by coaching the people who submit time and attendance data, and have strong attention to detail.
