Workshop Lead – 12V Electrical & Monitoring Systems

We are seeking an experienced and hands-on Workshop Lead to complete and oversee the assembly, wiring and testing of our 12V extra-low-voltage (ELV) switchboards used across flood warning and environmental monitoring applications.

This is a practical role suited to someone who enjoys building quality systems, takes pride in a well-organised workshop and can oversee work from initial assembly through to final testing and completion.

About the Role

You will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the workshop and the completion of electronic systems, including enclosures and equipment used for:

Flood warning cameras

Flood warning and road signage systems

Telemetry and remote monitoring equipment

You’ll work closely with our operations, project and field teams to ensure systems are assembled correctly, tested, documented and ready for deployment.

Key Responsibilities

Assemble, wire and complete 12V extra-low-voltage electrical enclosures and monitoring systems.

Oversee workshop builds to ensure work is completed accurately and to a high standard.

Install and connect components including power supplies, batteries, solar charging equipment, controllers, telemetry equipment, sensors and associated wiring.

Complete system testing, fault finding and quality checks prior to equipment leaving the workshop.

Read and work from wiring diagrams, technical drawings and build documentation.

Ensure equipment is labelled, finished and prepared for field installation.

Coordinate workshop priorities to support project and field delivery requirements.

Maintain appropriate workshop stock, tools, equipment and consumables.

Keep the workshop clean, organised and safe at all times.

Identify opportunities to improve build quality, consistency and workshop efficiency.

Support and guide other team members completing workshop assembly activities.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience building similar 12V electrical, electronic, telemetry or control systems.

Strong practical skills in electrical enclosure assembly, wiring, termination and component installation.

Experience with extra-low-voltage DC systems.

Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.

Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and technical documentation.

High attention to detail and pride in producing neat, reliable systems.

Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple workshop priorities.

A commitment to maintaining a clean, efficient and well-organised working environment.

The ability to work independently while also supporting and supervising others.

Trade background highly desirable

Experience with solar-powered systems, telemetry, environmental monitoring, flood warning equipment, instrumentation, cameras, sensors or remote monitoring systems would be highly regarded.

Why Join Us?

This is an opportunity to take ownership of a specialist workshop environment and work on systems that are deployed in real-world flood warning, water monitoring and environmental applications.

You’ll be part of a practical, supportive team where quality, reliability and attention to detail matter, and where the equipment you build plays an important role in keeping monitoring and warning networks operating effectively.

If you have hands-on experience building 12V systems and enjoy seeing a quality build through from start to finish, we’d like to hear from you.
