- Assess vehicle requirements by evaluating type, load capacity, fuel efficiency, safety features, cargo space, and tracking systems to ensure alignment with operational needs.
- Source, negotiate, and secure the purchase or lease of vehicles, obtaining favourable terms on pricing, financing, service packages, and warranties.
- Manage the disposal of outdated or damaged vehicles through trade-ins, resale, or scrapping, ensuring cost-effective outcomes within budget parameters.
- Oversee scheduled servicing and maintenance programs to keep all fleet vehicles in optimal working condition, reduce downtime, and extend asset lifespan.
- Monitor and control fleet operating costs, including fuel usage, repairs, insurance, and overall vehicle efficiency.
- Provide expert advice to rental agencies and leasing companies on vehicle selection, acquisition, and fleet management, drawing on industry knowledge to support operational effectiveness.
- Maintain detailed records of all fleet transactions, including purchase and lease agreements, registrations, service histories, insurance documentation, and disposal records.
- Conduct market research to identify trends and changes within the vehicle rental and leasing sector, using insights to strengthen competitiveness and inform strategic planning.
- Assist in recruiting qualified drivers by assessing their skills, experience, and adherence to safety standards.
- Develop and manage driver rosters to maximise fleet utilisation, meet delivery schedules, and minimise idle time.
- Manage the registration and licensing of all fleet vehicles, ensuring compliance with local, state, and national regulations, keeping documentation current, and adjusting operations in response to regulatory changes.
- Monitor driver behaviour and performance using tracking systems and feedback mechanisms to uphold safety, efficiency, and customer service standards.
