About the Role
APG Workforce is currently seeking 2 experienced Halal Slaughtermen to join a meat processing operation in the Thomastown area. This is an excellent opportunity for skilled candidates with previous halal slaughtering experience who are looking for night shift work with a competitive hourly rate.
Successful applicants will be responsible for carrying out halal slaughtering duties while maintaining strict halal compliance, animal welfare, food safety and workplace health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform halal slaughtering duties in accordance with required halal procedures and standards.
- Handle livestock safely and humanely, following applicable animal welfare requirements.
- Maintain strict food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards.
- Follow site procedures and operational requirements.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
- Work efficiently as part of a team in a fast-paced meat processing environment.
Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you must have:
- Previous experience as a Halal Slaughterman in a meat processing or abattoir environment.
- A sound understanding of halal slaughtering procedures and requirements.
- Knowledge of food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety practices.
- Availability to work night shifts from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM.
- The physical capability to perform the inherent requirements of the role.
- A reliable, punctual and safety-focused attitude.
- Full Australian working rights.
- The ability to pass any required pre-employment medical and site screening.
