Job Description
About the role
We’re looking for an Emergency Veterinarian to join our team on a permanent full-time, part-time, casual, or locum basis — ideally working 20–36 hours per week with shifts ranging from 3 to 12 hours.
This is true emergency work — no vaccinations or dentals, just the variety and challenge of acute care medicine and surgery.
- Shared rotating roster of nights, weekends, and some public holidays.
- Some sole charge shifts required, with support always available.
- Remuneration: $140,000–$185,000 + super + CE (pro rata for PT roles); negotiation available for exceptional candidates
What we offer
- We believe in ongoing development and investing in our people. You’ll have access to:
- A strong internal Continuing Education program and Annual CE allowance.
- The ARH “Growth Scholarship”, funding further study on top of your regular CE.
- Consultation coaching provided by On Switch and access to the Annual Greencross Veterinary Symposium.
- Career development pathways — let us know your interests, and we’ll help you pursue them through our Specialist network.
- Staff discounts, including Petbarn and Greencross clinics.
- Paid Parental Leave, flexible working arrangements, and back-to-work programs.
- Relocation packages and accommodation options between shifts for non-local vets.
- We’re proud to be actively involved in community and charity initiatives, as well as supporting local causes.
- Regular social events and a workplace culture that values friendship as much as professionalism.
