About the Role
JBS Pork Australia – Farming Team is currently recruiting a Technical Officer to support the team based at our Huntly site. This full-time position will be responsible for collecting research data in the areas of nutrition, behaviour, welfare, health, reproduction, genetics and meat quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and conduct livestock research
- Undertake daily animal husbandry tasks including feeding, live weight assessment and monitoring of animal health and welfare
- Compliance with research protocol guidelines, animal welfare and ethics and WHS
- Accurately capture research data
- Willingness to participate in travel to other sites to perform duties as reasonably required
Skills & Experience
- Degree or Diploma in Agriculture, Animal Science (or related field), or experience in animal research/animal production
- Previous livestock experience
- A positive attitude with an interest in animal research, production and new technology
- Effective communication & organisational skills as well as a desire to work in a team environment
- Intermediate computer skills
- A sound degree of fitness to cope with the physical nature of the position
- A preparedness to work flexible hours
- A current Driver's Licence
